Solutech Named Radiotherapy and Ultrasound Support Services of the Year 2026
We’re proud to announce that Healthcare Business Review has named Solutech Radiotherapy and Ultrasound Support Services of the Year for 2026. This recognition is based on independent editorial research, subscriber nominations, and industry input, and it reflects what our team works toward every day: keeping critical treatment equipment running so patients receive the care they need without disruption.
It Started on a Napkin
Our story goes back to 1995, when field service engineer Kenneth Wolfe and salesman Carl Hill mapped out a business plan on the back of a napkin in a Pittsburgh bar. Their first customer was Presbyterian Hospital in North Carolina. More than three decades later, that same customer, now Novant Health, is still a valued partner.
What started with a single machine has grown into the largest independent radiotherapy service organization in the United States. Today, we support nearly 250 linear accelerators across 39 states and maintain a 98% uptime rate, exceeding our contractual commitment of 97%.
“We’ve never seen ourselves as people who just fix problems. We’re solution formers,” said Nick Goebel, CEO. “We look at the bigger picture, understand what our customers are trying to achieve, and build solutions that keep their equipment running, support their teams, and ultimately help patients get the care they need.”
Keeping Machines Running When Replacement Is Not the Answer
Replacing a linear accelerator can cost $4 million to $5 million. For community hospitals and rural cancer centers, that is not always a realistic option. Through in-house repair, parts harvesting, component refurbishment, and circuit board repair, we help providers extend the clinical life of their equipment to 10, 15, or even 20 years, including systems the original manufacturers no longer support.
Our approach has always been to maximize what you already have before recommending something new. That philosophy is core to who we are.
One Team, One Name
In 2022, we entered a new phase of growth through a partnership with Sheridan Capital Partners. That same year, we welcomed Summit Imaging into the family, adding ultrasound probe repair, diagnostic imaging, and advanced repair expertise. Additional acquisitions brought remote LINAC support and software capabilities for ARIA and Eclipse, followed by the former OSI LINAC service business from Avante and Accelotronics.
As these specialized teams came together, one identity emerged: Solutech. A name inspired by solutionists and technology, and a reflection of the shared commitment that brought us all here.
Built Around Being There When It Matters
“Across our installed base of nearly 250 linear accelerators, we maintain 98 percent uptime, exceeding our contractual commitment of 97 percent,” said Brian Dustin, Vice President and General Manager of Radiotherapy.
Every field engineer supports approximately five machines and is located close to customer facilities, often within 20 to 30 minutes. Smaller territories mean faster response, and when you pair that with proactive maintenance, treatment schedules stay on track. It is that consistency, showing up, solving problems, and keeping care moving that earned this award.
We are grateful for this recognition from Healthcare Business Review and even more grateful for the customers and teams who make this work meaningful every day.
